HUBMASTER'S
CHOICE
FOR
OCTOBER 1996
This page is dedicated to the HUBMASTER'S
CHOICE. Each month, the
HUBMASTER
of ARIZONA'S WEBHUB
selects a particularly informative and/or well-designed web page that either covers
Arizona-related information, is administered on an Arizona-based server or is related to Arizona
in some other way. This month's choice is:

This site has been completely overhauled and much improved since my last visit to it some weeks ago. What was once a dull and uninformative dead end is now a vibrant and useful tool that users can get something out of. Blockbuster Desert Sky Pavillion and their site designer Graphics Warehouse should be proud of what their progressive initiative has wrought. It is by no means an unflawed work, but it's certainly a solid effort in many respects.
The overall look is clean and attractive. Images and text are layed out on the page in a compact and sensible way making for easy, pleasant browsing. More useful information than earlier found is now offered to the visitor.
There is also some nifty programming to give added flair. The home page header is scripted to randomly offer up images from a series of well done collages featuring artists who have performed at Desert Sky. The headers on the other pages are animations that smartly assemble themselves in a "fly-in" fashion.
On the minus side is the font chosen for the navigation icons and the mediocre quality of the offered video clips. The offending font has a messy, hand drawn look to it that is out of line with the site's otherwise sharp features and the audio and video quality of the clips is unfortunately too poor to make them worth watching.
What is worth watching, however, is the way a site like this can turn itself around. Others will hopefully take note.
