Arizona's WebHub is a comprehensive, subject-sorted listing of World Wide Web links covering information about Arizona as well as general-interest resources published by Arizona residents.
The WebHub is a unique and important resource not only for residents of Arizona, but also for people world-wide with an interest in some aspect of Arizona and its web presence. The Arizona Republic calls the WebHub "Arizona's Yahoo" and "the best grouping of information about Arizona, by Arizonans that (the author) has ever seen." Visitors can find instant links to information about Arizona cities, sports teams, libraries, hotels, restaurants, weather, astronomy, science, real estate, tourism and more."Search utilities and indices are becoming increasingly important tools to effectively cope with the rising flood of new World Wide Web sites. The WebHub provides such a tool for Arizona-relevant information. Inclusion in the WebHub is free and an interface is offered for adding your URL. The WebHub offers a variety of special features. Visitors to the WebHub can easily monitor daily updates on a page dedicated to recent additions and can keyword search all the information listed in the WebHub using a specially designed search engine. The WebHub also features a feedback area, where visitors have the opportunity to leave comments or suggestions. The most popular feature of the WebHub is the postcards page where users can choose from a variety of professional photos to use for sending digital postcards to any email address. Occassionally, the WebHub nominates one of the listed sites for the "HubMaster's Choice Award", prominently displaying a particularly informative and well-designed web page covering Arizona-related information.
The WebHub was created in March, 1995 by Matthias Giessler, a Technology Consultant for the Technology Based Learning and Research Laboratory at Arizona State University. It is published and maintained by Rhino Productions, Inc.
